Wheel shopping

So I finally got around to go get my self some new wheels yesterday and found myself at one of the G.C's more reputable outlets. Guy was friendly enough but when I mentioned 18's and FTO I got the impression I wasn't going to get a whole lot of help. Is this the general consensus or can someone point me in the right direction? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Jase.

What exactly are you asking mate? Whether or not they will fit or..?
18s are dependant largely on offset. Too much and it will scrub on your guards.

18 x 8 35 offset is sweet or 18 x 7.5 with 42 or 35 offset works too stud pattern is same as falcon or Nissan etc so basically any wheel for falcon or magna camry with those spec will work

Thanks for the replies. Knowing the offset before I go into a shop willl help. Sorry I didn't word that first message very well. The impression I got from the sales guy was that he wasn't overly interested because most new wheels start at 19 and fitting FTO's is a bit of a pain. I was wondering if anyone had purchased a new set of wheels recently and where from. Brissy / Gold Coast area.

Thanks vipfto. What width rubber can I run. I've heard 235's will fit with guard rolling and 225's fit nicely. Does that sound right?

Running 18s x 7.5 on 215/35 stretched rubber bands with +45 offset... no rubbing or whatsover even on full lock.
I guess, the scrubbing starts on inner side when you going for 225s.. even on +42 offset
235s definitely need lower offset to clear the inner side but then you'll need to roll your guards as your rubber probably sticks out off your guards due to the low offset which i think even +35 won't cut it when you're going for 235s on 18s.
