How do you get the small end of the boot over the large knob end? Do the 3 knuckle things come off from the rod? Or do i need to take the shaft off from the wheel side and slide it up?

It's a tricky task, but the shaft has to come out from the cup in order to remove/ replace the boot.
Do a youtube search for a video guide, generic fwd thing.

I can get it out of the cup. But the small end of the boot doesnt stretch over the end highlighted in red.

To explain further, the part in red there, should remain in the cup with the shaft removed from that area.
There is a circlip behind the red inside the cup which holds it in.

It's not an easy task.

Have you Youtubed?

EDIT: Inner and outer are the same.

Yeah, the one i watched he removed it all from the cup, the the 3 little knobs just pulled off easily, leaving pretty much just a rod. My 3 little knobs arnt that easy to pull off. I'll try again. But what you are saying sounds a little different to the video i just watched.

The cups he takes off at 11:07 he just pulls off easily. Mine are not coming off that easily. He doesnt use a hammer on them at all. Unless what you are referring to as cups, he is calling something else the same thing.

I refer to the cup as the actual assembly where the bearings and shaft lay in.
The end shaft which goes in to the gearbox and holds the 3 bearings is the cup I refer.

Correct me if wrong, someone else, but I'm sure the procedure is remove, and hammer off.
Don't have the manual in front of me.

I'm gonna have to take it all off I guess. Was trying to just slip the boot on while leaving the wheel hub all on still. Wont be able to get a hammer and sh*t in that small space lol

Oh, you still have it in the car?
Yeah, definitely remove the shaft.
Easier task. Pest for the oil factor, but definitely easier.

Technically you don't have to remove the shaft completely, but it makes it a hell of a lot easier if you do.

As mentioned, there is a circlip on the end of it that holds the bearing assembly on. Once you take the circlip off, the bearing assembly simply slides off.
