car stalled when in reverse

Hi guys,
First time this has happened, was reversing when my engine stalled, when i turned it back on, tried to reverse again and stalled again.
i had to wait a couple of minutes and when i could turn the engine on, rev the engine a little before i could successfully park my park.it does feel sometimes when reversing without stepping on the pedal the car vibrates a little and if i dont press the pedal it will stall.
could it be battery or fuel pump issues? (however had a recent check, mechanic said battery was fine)
Any help would be great
Cheers.

possibly issues with the torque converter clutch?

Auto im assuming? The stepper motor controls the revs at idle and when you put it into reverse the revs drop quite low even when the stepper is functioning well. If its on the way out then it can't hold the revs up and the car will stall. The fuel pump wouldn't be umder load when in reverse and if it drives normally then its definitely not that. What do your revs sit at when its in drive and idling?

yes its a GPX 1995 auto. I just checked, when on P its a little above 1 rpm, when on D or R its slightly below 1 rpm. is that normal?
so far only happened once, im hoping its an isolated event.

Yes, idle should be around 750-800rpm when in gear, and slightly above when in P.

ok but after driving for a bit i realized it idles on 500 - 600rpm on both d and r.
vibrates a little too if i idle too long.

You sure it is 500? Half way between 0 and 1k is 700-800 the little line closer to the 0 is 500.

When the car is at operating temperature the idle is lower. If its 500 then its too low. Id adjust the idle screw then if that failed id replace the stepper.

yeah didn't realize that. its not touching the line so should be ok.
