Pucker up guys, any defect on an imported vehicle must now be cleared by an RMS inspection station. No private mechanics or dealers, dodgy mates etc. RMS must look at any import defected.

Right in the wallet...

Not harsh, they're just moving to the same level as us on defect clearance.

Minor defect for us is police station, major is regency which is the equivalent of RMS

Which is the reason the Evo/GSR is off the road and becoming fully legit bro ... :(

There is just too much of a focus on modified and older cars in an attempt to get them off the road, and people buying a disposable car every few years...

Nah thats the P plate turbo laws.

Defect laws are in effect as of a few days ago. All the guys at work got a notification bulletin when signing into the RMS website to do pink slips.

Thats quite uneven. Its just as common to see illegally modifiednon imports as it is to see modified imports. Im assuming that by your wording that this only applies to imports.

Correct, only applies to import vehicles.

I.e. a series 5 RX7 that was Aussie delivered is fine to be passed by us at work, but a jap FD is not.

So all FTOs defected will have no choice but to go over the RMS pits. And good luck finding a mate there to do a bodgy injection... Sorry gents.
