Plastic Rivet Removal

Hey guys,

This may sound a bit stupid...

But how are you meant to remove those plastic rivet things from your car? For example, taking off the front bumper, there are those plastic rivets. When I turn a screwdriver into the plastic screw head, it completely deforms the plastic. I've managed to only get 2 of the rivets out, but the rest of them have deformed. I've tried using a flathead screwdriver to pry it out, but it doesn't budge - the bumper panel ring that the rivet goes into just moves with the rivet, so its difficult to separate the two.
I'll probably try buy a 'trim remover tool' tomorrow.

How do you guys normally take them out?

Cheers :)

You set fire to them so they can burn in hell, then replace them with brand new ones. HTH.

But yeaaa.... 20 year old plastic isn't going to play.
You definitely light them on fire, in a ritualistic manner, and chant to the new clips god.

Press the other side from behind while putting as little pressure on the screwdriver as you can while turning it. Ive also found you can use a stanley knife blade as a lever while unscrewing it sometimes helps too. Otherwise, see above.

Hmm alright
Defs will burn them though!

Which new clips should I buy instead? Are there any specific ones for the FTO / what are the dimensions of the plastic clips/rivets?

Just getone out relatively unscathed and use it as a guide. Youll be able to find something similar at supercheap/autobahn etc
