air filter

i got a HKS air filter i want to konw will it fit and do i just take the the stock air filter out and put the HKS filter or get a new intake pipe or get a UAS kit or other kit r better.

you'll most likely need an adpater to fit the HKS to either the stock or the UAS piping...

the stock airbox all comes apart pretty easy... what area are you in ??? one of our members should be able to help you

i can put apart the air box but the air pipe fro the stock look short and to near to the engine so wont hot air go into the new air filter if i put it straight in or get a whloe new pipe or can i attach a new pipe to the stock one and is any place in sydeny where i can get pipe or a new air filter that fit my car

i install a air filter but i drive fro a long while it get hot so i think it suck hot air in should air filter get hot or not i am worryed

Its normal for the air filter to get hot if you don't have a heat shield, because it just sucking hot heat from the engine.

I did something like the following link, if someone can host the pic of what i've done to mine, then you can see what it looks like on a FTO. Its cheap, cost you $10 plus 1hr of your own time, & it does work, its been use on some of the low 1/4 miles cars i've seen on drag strip, & thats where i get the idea from.

how can take the heat out from the engine so the air filter wont suck so much hot air can lift the bonnet up abit so the hot air can go out a bonnet scop will be good if anyone konw where to get a bonnet socp done in sydeny tell me

Get the pod filter heat shielded and then supply the cold air with a snorkel pipe would be the easiest way to get cold air into your intake, a bonnet scoop wouldn't help much as the air would be hitting the top of your engine not your pod filter, remember bonnet scoops are there on turbo cars to supply the intercooler with cold air not to cool the engine bay :wink:

Interesting idea just formed about pod filters.

I too am running a pod filter (just some generic brand one) and am going to do a quick CAI setup leading down to the front bar.

Would it be more beneficial having the pod filter mounted somehow at the end of the CAI (just at the front bar end)?

OR

Leave pod filter where it is, cover it with a heat shield and have CAI piping running up to the pod?

This is just me thinking aloud but wouldn't it be better to have a heat shield and snorkel pipe?? For one if you extend your intake to fit your pod filter lower it will increase the curves and bends in the intake pipe thus increasing turbulence within it?? Also your pod filter may be sucking in cold air but the intake pipe is still sitting in your engine bay where the ambient temperature is a lot higher so wouldnt the air heat up considerably on the way to the engine??

Plus wouldnt the sucking of the engine be at a considerable loss if you increased the distance the air has to travel??

On a side note, the lower your pod filter the more likey it is to intake water from puddles and road spashes, that wouldn't be good for your engine :evil:

but is it ok if i lift the bonnet up a bit so the hot air can go out or cant and where can get heat shield from

What exactly do you mean by lift up your bonnet???

And any mechanic should be able to fit a decent heat shield for you, just depends on what material you want it made out of as to how much you will have to pay
