6A12 MIVEC, Variable lift AND timing?

Just wondering,
I always thought the V6 MIVEC was variable valve lift AND timing but reading around it may in fact be only variable valve lift, and no timing?

Can anyone confirm for sure?

Yes, in the MIVEC range, the ECU adjusts the timing as well.

I didn't mean ignition timing
I meant cam timing??

MIVEC stands for Mitsubishi Innovative Valve-timing-and-lift Electronic Control
according to wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MIVEC
MIVEC varies the timing and lift of valves by using two different camshaft profiles. It is similar to Honda's VTEC YO!!!!! system.

No you don't understand....

Take VANOS for instance, it varies cam timing throughout the revrange. I don't mean does timing change at MIVEC shift point, but does it change cam timing from the revrange for flatter torque?

as gav said

this changes the the cam timing ( cam lift and duration ) by switching between the two cam lobes. It is not a variable system like the BMW vanos system, but varies it by having two seperate inlet and exhaust cam lobes for each cylinder, thus giving you differant cam timing, or to be more specific it is like having two sets of 4 cam shafts and being able to switch between them.

If you did a search on the forum you should be able to find were this has been discussed in the past

Ok THAT'S what I was asking.
So it doesn't vary it through the revrange :(

VTEC YO!!!!! doesn't either? But i-VTEC YO!!!!! already has that feature?
