Steerling Wheel Tools

If anyone did it themself before, which tools did you use to unscrew the middle screw ... it's damn hard as rock

Ha, getting the screw off isn't the only problem, then try freeing the seemingly unattached wheel :? Spray it with a hefty dose of WD40 and then just use a tourque wrench, but do not remove the nut! Only loosen it slightly, it takes a lot of force to dislocate the wheel itself, and if the nut still isn't on then it's going to fly off and smack you in the face.

I use an air wrench to undo the center nuts, & then just keep "karate chop" both side of the steering wheel (9 & 3 position) unit it loosen off. Think of it like when you changing tyres, when it stuck, you don't pull it, instead you hit it side to side or up & down (12 & 6 position) to loosen it.

If you pull it instead of "chopping it" you will end up what scarecrow had mention, a blood nose or a black eye

I found it quite easy with a 4 way wheel brace to get the nut off but you will need help from a mate to hold the wheel for you ...

Is that sole nut the only one you need to get the steering wheel off?

I got the nut off and pulled my wheel kinda hard but got scared cause it was so hard to pull off :( ... so I just put it back together ahahha

Hehehe, yeah its the only one after u got the horn cap off.
Just leave the centre nut on a bit then pull.... as FTO338 said, lever one side then the other is the best method.

hmmmm it only takes me 30sec to take mine off, & i've got aftermarket steering wheel, as i said before you wasting your energy by pulling it.

I tryed lever one side then the other? ... Let me get this straight ... So I pull one side of the steering wheel and then the other side?

My technique is to lay the seat flat - get in & pull with good pressure on both sides, then swing your shoulders left to right - applying max pressure to one side at a time, but yet still have pressure on the other. It will go eventually (& dont forget to keep the nut on) Only takes me seconds on most wheels.

Think of it as Push & Pull, Push on one side, & Pull the other. Keep alternating & you get there.

I'm very surprised no one has mentioned using a steering wheel puller. The correct tool for the job. You'll notice after removing the nut there is a small indent on the top of bolt that's where the pin of the puller goes. Easy as pie...mmmm pie.

By banging the wheel off you run the risk of breaking the steering column some of which is designed to break under heavy impact.
