FTO AUSTRALIA

I bought a brand new chrome tacho with shift light.. Really nice. So i couldn't wait to install it. after a look of looking i found that i could connect the RPM signal wire into the back of the indash one. But when i turned the car both Dash tacho and my new tacho just sat on 0... ARGH!!! so maybe if i use the same power from the back of the dash tacho??? STILL SAME THING!!! Im out of ideas... I've heard of something about some tacho's being "Pulse" sending????? Has anyone got a tacho in their FTO??? Cause i really need this. Cant race without a shift light eh?

Yes it is grounded. I can set the Shift point and the backlight works etc.... does anyone have a tacho on theirs??? Is my Tacho Faulty???

I talked to a friend and on his 96 Sprinter he hooked his tacho into hios coil. Now if im not mistaken fto's have 3.Can i just try wiring mine into one of them? Who actually has one? And which wire is connected to where? PLEASE HELP!!!

Ok, In your passenger footwell, take of the panel with the 2 loops in it (flare holder.) Behind that is you ECU. As you look at the ecu from below, so you can see the wiring plugs. You will see four wiring plugs in a row.The third from the left should be a 12 pin plug....the smallest one.The plug will have 2 rows of six pins, the rpm output is the second from the left on the bottom row. I beleive it is a white wire out the back of the plug - I could be mistaken thou...

Failing that - pull your dash pod out & connect to the back of the old tacho... well its more like a circuit board with the word "Tach" written on the right spot.

Tried That. Both TAcho's just sit on Zero... Please anyone??? Is this a faulty tacho???

i would agree with bennoz and tap into the ecu.
if that dosent work then i have no idea

As I said, I tried That. Should i fully disconect the old one from the ecu and then connect the new one? Is that the Tach signal Input from the engine or is it the wire from the ecu to the dash? This is driving me nuts!!!!

You shouldn't have to. I've had multiple tachos' running in cars off the same circuit. So the original one doesn't work either?? You may have blown a fuse or your ECU is playing up....

The original tach works untill i connect the second one. Like a shorting circuit or something.

fto's are rice free zones maybe that's why it won't work...

hack into the ECU its the best place... i have a RSM and VAFC coming off the ECU and no problems what so ever with my tacho....

my guess is your accidentally shorting it....
