Anyone ever pull theirs apart??

BOING!!!

Image

It was one of those jobs, that took me most of the morning & I acheived nothing

Anywho - see the little black motor at the bottom of the pic? Has the steel worm drive on it that actuates the lock. Its shot & I need to get one. So before I go out for some retail therapy at Bankstown, has onyone got a unit lying around? If you've got the motor great, if not the whole assembly to suit the passenger door.

Thanks in Advance

Throw over your left shoulder. These are flaky - one of the faults with the FTO. Go Aftermarket and save yourself lots of hassle. Have to chop your door a little, but at least will work.

yeah my passenger motor was shot when i bought the car, took the motor apart, (had some glass in it!) but it was pretty shot, cleaned it up and now its just started to play up again... 18 months later

Don't waste you time, bennoz.

Buy an after market 2 wire actuator kit from Jaycar and do this:

Many thanks gents

I spoke to my auto sparkie about all these solutions, he reckons the easiest way is to buy an aftermarket motor - they come in genric sizes & ratings (told me to go to my local slot car track 8O :D ) As the mechanics of the lock are fine, its just the motor thats burnt out. Apparently about $12 bucks should cover it.

Now that I know how to get the unit in & out in a reasonable time frame, I'll give it a shot & let you all know if it works - if so I'll do a DIY :D

If that fails & I'll head down to Jaycar! Then do another DIY!

If you can do a guide and chuck it up on Complete FTO, that would be great Bennoz.....

see the little green disc in the picture inline with the motor?, its a surge protector, see if it gets hot when you activate the motor, if it does, it needs replacing. go to jaycar and ask for a replacement, they usally go in speakers as well. hope it helps
