hey wondering if somone can solve my mystery i have had a weird grinding noise for the past week, coming from the right wheel , its like a metal noise, to me it sounds like brakes, but the thing the noise only hapens after i stop my car and slowly drive off . and the brakes are not applied , to get rid of the noise i have to apply the brakes , a couple of times whilst drivng , and then for the rest of the trip its fine, unless i got over huge ass pot holes or maybe sometimes around corners really sharp .

my brake pads look ok to me i think. but do need new pads., but what could be this problem? any one know .also when im traveling fast and aplying the brakes, car and steering wheel seems to shake, ive been told i need to grind my discs or somthing

hey dude... i've got the same noise coming from the front... hehehe but i think it's because the inner guard has been pressed into the wheel courtesy of a camry (hehe. i'm pretty sure that's what's causing the noise)

anyway, sounds like it could be one of 2 things. Could be the dust guard behind the disc is a little warped and contacting with the disc at low speeds (just needs to be bent out a little). the noise will stop when you apply the brakes.

it could also be the backing plate on the pads but this is normally a rattling sound or screeching on brake application.

worth checking out these 2 at least.

Could also be a stone in the caliper. This can somethimes happen. Is the noise high pitched???

My right side makes a grinding sound at slow speeds when turning. Like the others said it's prob just brakes. As long as it's not your bearings, i've had front ones seize whilst driving my old ute. Not fun...

You'll know if you're outta brake pads - the disc will be all sratched & gouged. Just run a finger across it to tell.... plus you'll see no meat left on the pad.

hmm well time will tell. i just bought new brake pads for the front. cost me 79$ from your friendly repco store. will get my local mechnic to replace the front brakes. ive never done it before.
il let yous know if it fixed the problem. but i have been told . that it could be the metal strip on the pad. where it indicates the driver its time for new brakes.

lol solved my problem. im so hopeless. it was my brake pads. they have a a metal plate to let uknow when your pads are getin low. im so dumb anyway cost me 33$ to get my front pads installed. by midas. cheap

a lot of people dont know this, but even when your not braking, pads come in contact with the disc.
