Came back from service with dodgy accelerator pedal

Hi guys,
Well just had the "BIG" service today on my 97 manual GR. Timing belt, fuel, oil filts, brakes etc. Anyway just got it back and when I first pushed the accelerator pedal I knew something was weird. Ok well its not something DRAMATICALLY wrong, hence the reason I didnt just drive back to centre but the pedal now has a bit of 'give' in it. So when you push the pedal it is loose for prob about and inch and then actually hits throttle, its not a delay just a physical thing where you have to push that bit further to accelerate. This is much more annoying since now the car has sort of lost its feel....so to some up....before service-touch acceleartor pedal and yey you accelerate.....after service- touch the pedal, its loose, push a bit more and then accelerate.

Is there anything I can do to fix this niggling issue.
Thanks

Yeah, just take it back. They may have replaced the cable, or mucked with the freeplay of the pedal. Let them fix it.

sounds like just freeplay in the throttle cable. you can do it yourself but since they did the job just give it to them to fix it.

2 bolts hold the throttle cable assembly to the intake manifold (on the back of it) loosen them off, slide the assembly towards the drivers side of the car & nip up the bolts. They are 12mm.

Dont slide it so far that the cable is taught - leave a tiny bit of slack in it.

i usually have half an inch of "give" in my brake pedal (for long drives resting foot on it) so i dont wear out the pads but zero give in te accelerator so that when i literally floor it, im hard accelerating
