If you think it's an earthing prob you may as well check all connections. First of all how many speakers aren't working? Do you have an amp powing the not working ones? Have a look at the connections on the speakers themselves as I found one of mine almost came off, also check the connections at the amp (if you have one) on both the input and output stages on the amp. If these so far are all fine then you will prob have to lift the dash- mind you if it just happens to stop working I would say it is more likely to be a wire that "moves around" than one under the dash

if you have an amp and the stereo is working then the amp either has a fuse blown, no power, or the amp is cactus.

i doubt it would be earth if all 6 speakers arent working and theres power too the headunit... more likely loose wires at the back of the headunit. pull it out and have a look.
ie... 2 wires to a speaker positive and earth... remove earth... only that speaker would stop, not the other 5. and if the stereo wasnt earthed the whole unit wouldnt work it... dont touch it if u dont know what your doing mell
