Hi guys, I'm KEN from the FTOOC UK. My car is a ,95 GPX manual in moonlight blue. For some pics have a look here
LINK

As the subject says I just installed Cusco LSD Type RS but got some issues esp with what oil to use. Anyway you can find the whole story here: http://www.ftooc.org/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=43768

If any body has experience with/knowledge of this LSD in conjunction with a manual GPX gearbox, I'd be extra pleased to know all about it especially regarding the issues which concern me a lot.

Thanks a million in advance and long live the FTO

That FTOOC thread had a query about the friction modifier to use...

I had an EVO III clutch-plate LSD fitted, and the garage added 100ml Mitsubishi "LSD Friction Modifier" (product code MBB664682) to the gearbox oil.

Beleive me when I say this but use the following

Redline Friction Modifier can't remember the part number 80201 I think

And use a MINERAL GRADE LS90 LSD oil.

Yes I specifically state mineral grade 90 weight. We started using it over every type of Synthetic oil in a cusco unit and thereis absoloutly no noise anymore in our diffs. They are so smooth and quite, its almost hard to tell you have one compared to a stock diff. WE used the Fuch's brand hence thats there part number.

Does the diff and gearbox take different oil?
I thought it was one and the same?

Can someone specify this especially on Version R gearbox + LSD

Yes diff and manuel tranmission take same oil.

This can also be used on a Stock Mitsubishi LSD unit but is more specific to the Cuscso clutch type units which are more tempermental than a gear type lsd

Cheers for that Mitsi man, I will search for that Fuchs one you told me about.
Is that a semi-synthetic oil then?
Does the FTO's gearbox and synchro like it?
Is it a 70W-85 or 70W-90?

So you got this LSD too in there I presume, did it quieten down after running in? Also is there any different oil to be used during running in. I'm thinking of doing the running in with the Silktran 5 I already got in there, and then perhaps switch onto something else like this Fuchs one you suggested

No we tried both full synthetic and semi synthetic and whilst it was quiter, was still very jerky and made the typical grinding noise of clutch style lsd.

This is a plain jane, straight old MINERAL grade oil only. Once you get over the mass marketing and hype we have all had beleiving synthetics to be better, beleive me after placing this oil in my car - I would never ever go back to anything else.

It is so quiet you don't even know I have a lSD in my car at all beleive me.

and evern though its a mineral grade oil, it was designed for LSD vehicles.

Hmm sounds interesting there mate, can you point me to a spec sheet of it on a website or something? I tried looking for it but didn't manage to find anything on the Fuchs site yet :?
