The rev limiter is lower when the engine is cold, to protect it from being damaged.
Does this happen when the engine is warm? Or while its still warming up?

Simce the fto is such a high revving engine, i would give it atleast 10+ minutes to completely warm up.
If your rev limiter kicks in at 6.5k when it's warm it means one of your sensors is broken or the wire.

if its happening when the car's warm chances are you have a broken solenoid or loose wires...
the engine will not kick into mivec if its detecting problems and will "soft line" at 6k

I get the same thing actually. Only ever done it a couple of times but either way you wouldn't want to rev your engine that high when its cold. You're engine life will dramatically decrease that way.
oh sweet

oh ok, i didnt know about the detecting things, well that makes a lot of sense then hehe, ill be sure not to give it too much when i first drive it - that kinda sux thought, becoz my work is like 5minutes away - and by the time it warms up my trip will be over
hehe oh wells atleast i have weekends to unleash the car hehe.
thanks for the help, i thought i had a lemon for a minute there.. but yeah.
thats heaps good.
You guys rock!!

ahhah i warm up for around 10mins every morning & afterwork, & I live only 3km away from my work.
I use more fuel on idle then driving it ahhaahhaaha things we do to keep the car running well.

I agree about the whole warming up thing...I always let my cars run for at least 5-10min before I drive in the morning....
after all that I was running on the fwy today and decided to see what happens if a push the car to the limit in 2nd...it bounces around at about 8k for a bit...not a great noise..just to make sure a did it again....moron
basiically i forgot to change gear lol but I still beat the dood I was racing...

have you checked our belts??? They can cause the noise you describe.
Also with the warm up issue, some people prefer to drive straight away, which in turns gets the oil upto running temps quick which means your oil starts to protect better, and sooner.
