I have seen few FTO bonnet pics with a large vent in the middle,
especially the one looks like the Viper,
but I cant locate any of these pics now,
Can you please help me and post it here

ive been planning on getting them made in carbon fibre as well as fibre glass. fibre glass would obviously cost lesser . there would not be as many vents on it though. just one simple one in the centre and one near the air intake(for the ones that want it) . heres a rough idea of what it would look like. dont bag my pics coz i made em using paint plannin on gettin these made early next year as there are just too many group buys going on atm to generate interest and would defo need to be a group buy of 10 bonnets to get a decent price . your looking at around 900$ for a carbon fibre one .

Now theres an interesting thought. CAI from the bonnet rather than the front grille. Much tidier!

I am about to ask to the repair shop to cut pieces off from the bonnet.
Especially interested in a vent on the passenger side to allow easy access for CAI.
Actually what I was thing is to get rid of the battery from where it is now (relocate it where the stock CAI is), and stick the CAI there,
and get the air from just above. All the piping will be very short.
However, I have design problem, around incoming water problem.
I still havent figure out how to eleminate the water coming in from the vent.
Any idea?

How about ending the piping a certain distance from the pod. That way, the air will reach it, but the water will drop out the bottom!! Youll probably have to double back the piping somehow anyways!!

Hm, i must say i'm not a fan of those bonnet vents, as they I don't think they suit the fto shape and style. Very different however.

I think if you have a CAI at the front bar, you will get more air, and i think the surface area of the intake could be bigger, not sure.

Sure the volume of air at the front is greater, but that air still has bends to go through before it hits the filter, and only so much can go through at once.

Having an inlet directly above the filter (or near to it) results in air getting to the filter quicker, which in turn means it gets to the TB quicker.

I've read tha article, and i must say it's a great idea, but i'm still concerned about that water stll going up 18".. cos a standard intake on an fto will be clsoe to that lenght..

I was having the same thoughts, but I reckon they missed the point.
Altough it is a great test they have done, they should test to see if the valve lets the water go through itself,
So I reckon they should have located the valve close to the end of that clear pipe, just above the filter where sucked in water can reach.
The purpose of this valve is if water comes close to it, it wont let the water past.
So it looks like they missed the purpose of the product totaly..

Yeah, also to add.
The pipe they used is really long, and therefore helps the test dramatically. As all intake pipes are much shorter.

So would like say a handfull of water drops do anything, or is the damage mostly done by a stream of water?

I think dumping the air filter in water completely is extreme for a test... hmm..........

Ok, I have not much time left, just after new year, I have to go back to the repair shop and submit my design for the bonnet.

What I want is vents facing backwards on each side of the bonnet, towards the end, and also, a scoop in the middle facing forward, this scoop should be build in rather then sticking out like a wrx.

So, something pretty much like shue's photo above, however, I am not feeling good about that vents.

Do you think this will fit an FTO bonnet? one on each side toward the back.

I dont have the car, so my imagination is limited, anybody good with photoshop please...

those kinda look like the kaze vents dont they? 400$ for vents is a bit rich though IMO

I like the design from hostile, i reckon we could get a good group buy outta that design

i think gettin them made locally would cost a lot lesser. could get u one made in cf for around 900$. as compared to importing a fibre glass one from hostile

yeah well i am also thinking about what type of bonnet i want because there just so many choices!!!

i think im going to see at my local panel shop if i buy a carbon fibre bonnet can they add vents on it!!!

because i just want the standered bonnet on the car now just in carbon and also vents lik on that skyline on each side...i think it will look awesome on a gold car!!!
