Hey guys, I just had my car on the dyno today at Autotechengineering at granvel, ( they had some sick cars there!!! ) to get my unichip retuned and thought id share the results with everyone, The final result was 118.2 KWs which i was pretty happy with, although there wasnt much difference in the before and after power curve. but they said that whoever did the tune last left some of the map points blank for some reason..... strange. So thats all fixed up now and the car drives heaps smoother! I came across our arch nemisis on the way home to, a DC2 Type R and pulled well away from him along milpera rd, but his looked pretty standard! But overall pretty happy with the results, and i can recomend Autotech to anyone wanting tune ups or engine builds, very professional and even call an hour after i picked the car up to make sure i was happy!

Strangely he also said that fuel presure regulators were a waste of time, he said that the only ppl who recomend them are people who cant tune cars properly. which i thought was good cos i was keen to get one installed while it was on the dyno, and he could of easily said yes and gotten another 400+ out of me but talked me out of it!

He also said that they do engine conversions and build ups, so if i ever come into a largeish slab of money, 6A13tt here i come!!!

Ive got a ARC intake and heat shield, RPW extractors and full exhaust with dual twin tips not sure what brand, unichip, heavyduty clutch. just your pretty standard porformance upgrades. and its manual.

nice to know...once I have the exhaust done..the unichip was the next plan..nice to see I can expect around the 115-120Kwatw figure. Somewhere in there I need to fix the suspension and upgrade the ICE f^%k $$$$$

Hey Chris let me know when you want to get the Unichip done & where, i'm thinking of putting a new version in, & pray to god it work this time.

I'm sure who ever doing it would prefer 2 cars then one, so let see if we can get a discount.

Kev would do it tomorrow...but the other hafl is on my back about spending money...I need to get the exhaust done first which I plan to do soon...not sure if this will be before or after I fix my panel up..then i might feel like a chip - what's it gonna set me back u reckon?? $1k?

From memory, Unichip cost around $1200-$1500 to intall & dyno tune.

I was lucky and bought my car with it already installed, but if its gunna cost 1500 ish wouldnt you be better off geting a Apxi Power FC? not sure if anyone has one of these but you can get a much better tune from it and would be better if you plan to do more engine work later on down the track. just my 2c, not sure if im rite but...

Apexi don't make Power FC for FTO anymore. Infact I haven't even seen it on the list before, but someone said they seen it like 13-14yrs ago.

I wouldn't go further then a Unichip with a FTO, as it pretty much can do everything for a N/A & a mild tune turbo one.

The one I'm quoting would be the 32bit Unichip, & i assume yours is 16bit. Do you know how much did they lean out with your setting at the moment Pato?

does the 16bit just mean that Ive got less map points than the new 32bit unichip? No im not sure how much it leaned out by? what does that mean for my car? is it bad? The only thing they mentioned about the settings was that whoever did the first, or last tune left half the map points blank.

It suppose to have more mapping point & also twice the processing power, which mean it will react better then the old one & do more. Well thats what the marketing people say anyway.

I think of it like a PC CPU, 16bit is Windows 95/98 & 32bit is Window 2000/XP.

Well if you can lean out too much just to get the KW on the dyno, you end up shorten the life span of your engine very fast. First sign with be detonation (engine pinging).

just wondering if i put an evo engine in can i still get a engine cert?
