CAM and Timing Belts

Guys,
Can you please help clear something up for me.. Some people are telling me that the CAM and Timing belts are the same thing.. Others are telling me that they are not..
Can someone please help clarify ?

Above link is an excellent source to understand how the camshaft works.
Camshaft does the timing, therefore I dont see any difference calling it camshaft belt, cam belt or timing belt.

Yep same thing. Cam belt, timing belt, cam drive, or in the old days - timing chains...
Any pulley system that rotates a camshaft from the crankshaft is considered a timing belt.

you dont need to know the difference get a mechanic to do it!!! Bloody pain in the arse!!!!
The only reason i did it is when i accidentally dropped a drill bit in the timing case, whch required me to remove everything anyway! So i changed it while i was at it!
Its not worth the effort, bloody terrible!!
Lucky i did though, i pushed my previous timing belt to 160000kms there were serveral cracks in them

I do need to know the difference when people are telling me im getting ripped cause the Timing belt and Cam belt are different things..
But from what Im gathering, the person telling me this doenst know what he's on about...
