ive changed my alt and power steering belts and for a week or so it was all good but that loud whining sound has returned. Especially during the hotter days the belt i believe expands and is sitting looser and slips and rainy days it also slips.
So i need to change the pulleys and also the belts again now.
Anyone know where i can get the pulleys and the belts? Also im after the gates belts as i got some weird no name ones before from repco, yeh repco don't deal with gates belts no more :(

Last time my pulleys were shot - we actually replaced the bearings within them rather than replace the lot. Cant recall the numbers as my mechanic did it for me

might be dumb question - but you sure you don't just need to adjust the tension??

thats the first thing i'd check too and then maybe some belt dressing... much cheaper and easier than replacing the pulleys.

Replacing pulleys aren't too bad. It's just hard to find one identical to the FTO pulleys but they can usually match it with another one if you bring the pulleys in. I think I got quoted something like $36 for the pulley as the bearings were only like $12 but appeared to be unremovable from the FTO pulleys.

ya you need the right belts...if they are loose adjusting the tension should help...however sounds like you have another issue.

You sure it's not your air con on the way out? Is the noise there all the time even with air con off?

If the air con is off the motor just runs on a flywheel, when u turn it on the "clutch" engages the motor and kicks in. My aircon flywheel seized cause the bearings inside it got all chewed up and i think off hand there was about 4 ball bearings left inside the thing, but obviously the flywheel wasnt rotating so the belt was bein pulled over it, made a scratchy grinding noise, then it started to smoke.... had to replace the motor and the belt
