Engine Conversion!! 4g63????? HELP!!

OKay. Long Story Short. my Mivec 6a12 is screwed. New engine needed. Have sourced 6a13tt front cut with running gear for $3000 or 4g63 front cut for $2500. I know the 4g63 has more aftermarket parts available but the 6a13 puts out more power. i know both of these engines will go in but i want the one that will give me more power for around $8k-$10k. Ive been told the 6a13 is round 208Kw while the 4g63 is somewhere round 150kw. But modification is cheap to that engine. The workshop im talking to says around $1500 to put the engine in. Then custom mods ontop (INtake manifold, intercooler, etc.) basically which is my better choice for a low budget conversion such as this? Please help. i need to get my car up and running asap. btw im on the gold coast, qld.
call me if you can help. 0412 610 096. Thanks heaps guys.

My best advice is to get written quotes from the workshop.
Make sure that the quote is for the conversion to be completed all modification required to be included and for the computer tuning and any bugs sorted out.
Use a reputable workshop that has been around for awhile and you know that there not going to disappear over night.
Also have a read of all the posts on here aout the turbo FTO's

Hey Samson I'm just wondering, I'm doing the same thing you're doing and am having trouble finding a the running gear for either of those engines. Would you mind telling me where you're getting those parts from?

I would just get the easiest engine to install. U gotta remember, u cant have too much power in a FWD. It just takes away from the handling.

The engine won't be a problem. I'm not keeping the car FWD which is why I'm trying to find a drivetrain, driveshaft and running gear. Even if I have to import them from somewhere. I've sent a heap of emails overseas but none have replied so far.
Panelhouse are an awesome place for parts but unfortunately they don't have what I need at this point in time. Unless Panelhouse can import those parts for me........hmmmmmm.........

I think the 6A13 would win purely for "coolness" factor.
If it was my choice, I think I would go for the 6 purely for the smoothness, the ample of low end, and you wouldn't need to run much boost to make good power.
4G63 is legendary though, and if I was planning on doing some crazy times with slicks and no interior I would go for that.
Just look at pro's and cons:
6A13TT:
Pro's
Smooth
Low end power
quick spool up
Very cool twin turbo V6 in an FTO
Will be very quick, and make more power than you can use on the street in a FWD anyway
Cons
Heat may be a problem in summer
Probably waste more fuel
4G63
Pro's
heaps of aftermarket
Better for handling
Good if you want to build a drag car
Still pretty cool
Cons
Less low end
Rough compared to the 6
Less weight over the driven wheels = more wheelspin

Thanks Danny. I have sourced a 6A13 so there's no problem getting the engine. What I need is the actual drivetrain with active yaw control and the 5 speed gearbox that goes with it. Any ideas where I can get these parts from Danny?
And Spetz, I would much rather prefer the 6A13 option coz it slots straight into the existing engine mounts and is oriented the correct way.
Also its 2.5 litre capacity is the same as the GTS-T I think and we all know how much power we can crank out of those things......

you will be much better to buy the whole lot at once. You need to get a half cut that comes with the diff and suspension and brakes.
They will bring it in if you ask for it. But once u buy a motor it is not so easy to get the rest. You need to make sure that the rear diff matches the front diff. So it is much easier to get the whole drive train in one hit. You will pay much more if you buy one at a time.
Most of the companies that import half cuts will get it for you, just have to keep on there backs.

If you use a Evo IV+ 4G63 it will slot straight in too
And why do you want the gearbox? You want to AWD it?
If you do, then let me know as I know someone who will supply and fit
Evo engine
Evo AWD with AYC
Engineer it
Brakes etc
for..... $20-$22 grand...
Which I think is good value but still a lot.
But an AWD FTO running big HP would be ultra ultra ultra cool

So for a 6a13tt to fit all i need is a custom intake and a turbo? How much for them ya reckon?

The 6A13 has to be modified to a single turbo to allow it to fit in the engine bay.
Actually Dannyboy did you relocate your aircon condenser and fuse box elsewhere for your conversion?
And Danny do you recommend any import companies in particular? Coz all I got is the Ads in High Performance Imports mag and have no idea what their credibility is like..........

Hey Nacho, I'd get yourself a cuppa & read through the 24 page sticky at the top of this section "Danny & Jeffs Turbo conversions" All sorts of good info & links to the pics etc in there

Didn't move aircon stuff except for a couple of pipes need to be rerouted to make it look neater. Fuse box still there.
Moved; power steering oil tank.
Moved and changed; throttle body, fuel filter, battery, fuel pressure regulator, Fuel lines, intake, rewired engine bay, radiator
Changed; custom exhaust manifolds , turbo, wastegate, intercooler and piping, computer, injectors, brakelines, Brake discs, clutch, flywheel, full stainless 3 inch exhaust, engine internals, all beltsand hoses, ceramic coating of most parts, etc

Thanks Danny! Sounds like a big job, but also sounds like heaps of fun. Apart from the fact that driving it would be heaps of fun when its finished, putting it all together is gonna be a lot of fun too!
And Ben I have already tried reading through the 23 pages of threads but somewhere around page 4 or 5 it all just turns into sh*t! I will try it again sometime but my main priority at the moment is the drivetrain while the FTO is just a shell. I would love to post pics up if I knew how.
So what are you working on these days then Danny? Haven't heard what you're up to these days? Is everything all good on the FTO now?
And by the way, is there only one Mitsi in Perth? Or is there a particular workshop you want me to contact?

It is going OK just the snapping of drive shaft problem, when i eventually get them sorted want to have parts ready for the broken gearboxes.
I have been working on sorting a couple of problems that arrise from chasing more power.
the wreckers is called mitsubie i hard a card here some where will post the number for them i did post them up here once before in a thread about halfcuts

Much appreciated Danny!
And Spetz where you located? I wouldn't mind talking to this workshop if they can source and engineer the drivetrain. The brakes I won't need just yet.
And yes I will be upgrading the brakes before the car is on the road.
