You are aware that baking of your headlights is involved in this procedure? Baking of your 900dollar to replace second hand headlights I should add.

I basically need what will fit on both without being a)too big to even get in there and b)so small it blocks the lights etc and looks really stupid.

this may be a little late but i'll measure the diameter of my angel eye thingos (the ones that i'm making right now) whne they r finished and tell you. if u still need to know

but what i can tell u now is that, what i'm using to mold the acrylic is a large-ish jam jar for the high beams and a normal/slightly small-ish mug.

Round ones (actually oval) are 7.4cm high, 8cm wide.
Domed section of the lens is 7.5 x 7.5cm
Square(ish) ones are 9.9cm high, 9.5cm wide.

Problem is I've seen CCFL tubes used in the same way and they look brilliant, would look better than this set up. Not sure where I would find them in those sizes though. If i could find CCFL, I'd use it anytime over LED. If anyone has any ideas...

lol i've screwed up on my sizes so i had to re bake and re bend the damn rod, also i cant figure out a way to make the highbeam ones fit, so i'm making a backing plate for it, does anyone have any better ideas?

oh and TCGPX, would 80mm do any good, cos they r plentyful for computer fans etc...

As fully sick as CCFLs are, wouldn't they be too bright and distract oncoming traffic and attract the Polizia?

i'd assume so, thats why i'm not doing it and only helping him find them, so that he can be my lab rat lol.
although i guess u can fog them up so they r not THAT bright

Tried out the ring. Looked sh!t. Around the base where the LEDs are was very bright and faded away the rest of the way round it.

80 mm would be perfect for the dipped beams, means you can hide the part where the wires join out of view. Cheers BorepYano. Do they make them in 95mm?

Anything like this is gunna attract attention from the fuzz. The ones on beamers would have full approval. I've been through a similar argument before, basically if it aint ADR approved, they won't let you have it.
I'm looking to run mine from a switch so I can have them come on with parkers only when I want. Then I can use em places there's less chance of being noticed by the law. The brightness can be adjusted to a certain extent also by reducing the voltage supply to them.

try fogging them up some more, i've done some testing on a off cut bit of rob (actually it wasnt off cut i just screwed up lol), it seems if u fog it up with sand paper, then spray a little white paint on them it works better (i sprayed my with my arm fully stretched out (so that it's an even light spray)

afraid not, cos they only come in the computer fan sizes, 120mm, 80mm, and possibly 5mm or so smaller in both cases (some fans dont actually fill the whole grill)

be careful with that, i'm pretty sure they'll flicker if u under power them too much, and also CCFLs are not designed to really be moved about, not sure if they'll survive the vibrations...

i've screwe3d up about 5 trials, but i'm confident enough now to make the full set (figured if u screw up enough times, u'll hit the right way eventually lol)

I'm going CCFL on mine. Given up on the plastic rod. Just too much farking around to get it perfectly even lighting the whole way round the ring. CCFL is that straight outta the box. Plus they're only 4-5mm thickness usually.
BTW, you mentioned CCFL not being good with vibrations. I've had 2 of them mounted under my door sill panels for bout 9 months now with no dramas.

For some reason the camera makes the line of the CCFL tube more obvious than it is in reality.

I'll order some in the next couple of weeks and see how they go. Post some pics for ya when I get em going.

and mine's coming along ok i think, i've decided to not fog up the rods at all, but instead just scratch the back of the rods. and it seems to work pretty well. my only other concern now is since my lights r white (painting them white as well), would the excess light from the angel eyes spill onto the white paint and make it look dodgy... i guess i will find out soon enough lol
