ive been having idling issues since ages on my car. i had the stepper motor replaced about 5- 6 months ago but this problem wasnt sorted out. i was having a read thru the grease monkey section on ftooc and found someone with exactly the same kind of symptoms as me . not to repeat the whole thing. click here
http://www.ftooc.org/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=46995 . he's replaced his ecu coz the stepper motor drivers were jacked up. is there anyway that i could check to see if that is the problem with my car ? and where do i go? just any sparky or do i need to go to someone else? and say my ecu drivers a messed up how much is a second hand ecu gonna cost me ? what if i get a unichip instead of my ecu. considering it is a stand alone ecu, will that solve my prob if my ecu is spoilt?? might as well upgrade if it is messed .

I thought the unichip was a piggy-back computer so it need to be run with the stock ECU.
If it is the drivers on the ECU you might be able to get you ECU reflashed if its only a software problem this should solve the problem, to get this done I think you have to go to Mitsubishi to get that done.

reakon any mitsu dealer would be able to test it and tell me if its the ecu that is messed up? which stand alone after market chip could i use if my ecu is fried?

I think every mitsubishi dealer should be able to check it out, they should have the mitsubishi diagnostic tool there and that
Microtech, haltech, Link, Motec and that are some of the stand alone ECU's...but I have been thinking if its only the driver for the stepper motor that is screwed, I think the Greddy Emanage Ultimate you might be able to run the stepper motor off the Auxiliary on it, not sure of it but I think it might.
