Hey, I've got a GPX and the rev counter has stopped working, it started as a intermitent problem a couple of days ago but now its fully stopped, anybody got any ideas?

I had a look on the site and one person had the same prob, in the end it was the ignition sensor, can anybody tell me where it is or how to find it?

yup just standard,

It could be a bad connection in the plug that goes in the instrument cluster or an internal fault in the instrument cluster itself.

You might have to pull the instrument cluster out and have it checked.

Ignition failure sensor is near the coolant filler hose (the metal one) From the front of the car it is behind this filler neck. It is a flat sensor with a 4 pin horizontal plug. I just replaced mine (it caused teh car not to start)

I know a guy in sydney selling one - it was on ebay - I was going to get it off him but ended up buying one locally (in vic form a wrecker)

They are interchangeable between GR and GPX.

got a new ignition sensor and it fixed the prob sweet as, saved me $$$, the ballbag auto electrician reckoned it was the ECU even though when he checked it it was working fine, reckoned i'd have to get it send away to get checked and that would take a week blah blah blah......

Hi guys,

sorry to bring up an old thread, but I just recently bought my FTO and the tacho was not working from the start.

I already fixed the central locking (since I got the car on tuesday) - used the DIY guide to pull the doors apart and have a look at what was up... whoever installed the aftermarket alarm had put the central locking motor onto the door handle rod, not the locking mechanism. You'd think if you knew enough about cars to pull the door trim off and make merry with the central locking, then you'd be able to read the instructions and do it properly...

Anyway, I need to have my tacho looked at. Do you think the ignition sensor is a likely culprit, and is there anything I can do myself to check? I'm not particularly car-minded (yet) but if I can have a go and save some money myself, great.
