Bloody alternator
My battery continued to die etc so I got my mum to buy me an alternator for my little GPX anyway as my luck would have it she bought it to the dodgiest people in the world they dodged up an alternator and to cut a long story short it now doesnt rev past 6000rpm. I know that the alternator for MIVECS has 4 pins this one has 2. Now if i buy the proper alternator and get it installed it would allow the FTO to reach 8000rpm again yes? just need a 2nd opinion before i buy it. By the way this governing at 6,000rpm only occured after the new alternator was put in!

Take your old alternator to an auto electrician to have it reconditioned unless its in a state of non-repairable (is that a word?)

if you didnt give them permission to, thats technically unlawful destruction of property/theft. I went through something very similair when i got an exhaust put on my car. They threw out the old one, and a replacement OEM exhaust (which i might have put back on to sell the car down the track) cost just as much as the system i had put on.
net result? free exhaust.

Hmmm ok cool, So if I go there like say tomorrow and they dont have the old alternator I can demand one? or take legal action.

might be too late, cos they legally have to hold it for so long then they can do whatever they want with it, also they can charge u for "storage"... this maybe different cos its them that didnt give it to you not that u didnt pick it up, so i dont think they can charge u "storage" on that.
i'm not sure about the time frame on how long they have to keep it if u dont collect something, but they number 3 comes to mind... its not days... might be weeks or months...
just scratch around and found out a little baout that before u going shouting and screaming then end up looking like an idiot when they blow it back in your face lol

wow old thread lol (barely remember posting here last time lol)
they didnt plug something in, or they blew something up either when they did the other alternator or this new one (although the blown up theory doesnt sound very likely)
this is just a guess so dont take it too seriously.... would it show up on your ECU as an error code?

did you check your batt first??? Sometimes a dying batt could cause similar symptoms.

lol yeah its cool, I did warm it up before i tired and it still does the rev limiter thing, I need a favour if any one has some time is it possible that you's could take a pic of the wires in the 4 pin plug just by sliding the cover back you can see what colour wires they are, It's going in for diagnostics tomorrow and I just need to know that before it goes in
