My left hand mirror stopped folding in a while back & I finally found the DIY Guide on how to fix it, so if anyone is having the same problems as I am here is the link for it:

http://www.redfto.co.uk/mirrorfix.html

I haven't tried it yet, but I will let you know how it goes once I have done it - I'll hopefully find time to do it this weekend..

Spent a few hours taking apart my spare mirror that the guy gave gave me when i bought the car, fixed it and put it back together, then went to my car to put it on only to find that the spare mirror was for the wrong side of the car :S Stupid ...

I just finished taking off the broken mirror, taking it to pieces fixed it and got it back on my car, pity now its too late & I can't test if its working without waking up the gf's parents & causin' a ruckus with my alarm ... So i'll let ya's know if it works or not tomorrow morning ..

:P

waking up the gf and her folks lol

JK JK i'm drunk

well let us know, what was wrong with it? mine... after finally remembering to get a mate to listen to it, it seems like the actual motor isnt gong, so its either the motor's screwed or a loose wire (i'm hoping but not v likely) lol

It didn't work, so i tried fixing it again and put it back on a few more times, now i can get them to retract, but not fold back down again

I think that the guide is pretty spot on about it though, & if anyone is having problems with their mirrors folding I would suggest that they try this for a cheap fix ...

A few suggestions for things I would change or add int othe guide:

1.) Don't use superglue to hold the little copper connectors in place, i did it & its the main reason i had so many problems, once the superglue is set, you can't reposition the connectors without soaking the part in an acetone (nail polish remover) so i buggered mine up that way... I would suggest using a hot glue gun, you can usually pick one up from crazy clarks really cheap, at least then it would be easier to get the glue off if you screw up :P

2.) After taking the mirror apart the first time, plug the motor into the car and test it before putting the mirror back together - it's a bitch of a thing when you've put it back together then test it and it doesn't work & have to pull it to peices again, this may mean getting someone to stand at the side of your car holding it while you sit in the car pressing the button to retract the mirrors :P

3.) Make sure that the connector attached to the actual motor is pushed in properly (little black plastic thing in the motor casing which plugs into the motor) even use a bit of hot glue to hold it in palce cause it can come loose.
