Hey guys i was traveling for 3 hours today and i notice my tempreature rise slowly and it would fall when i slow down or stop can any one give me advice on what can be causeing this?

the more harder u drive the higher the temperature will be, the longer the time you drive the higher the temperature will be as well

If it's any help, I have driven for hours and the highest the temp gauge went was just below half way.

if your temp gauge shows over 1/2 mark, than thats not normal, under any condition
It means something is wrong and may cause serious damage.

I would think about checking the coolant level first,
make sure the coolant circulates in the system,
worst case scenario can be your water pump,

I had the same issue with my other car MX5. It was all fine in city driving, but heating up at speeds around 100kms
Problem was due to the failed water pump

well the temp should raise very quickly at the start (i.e. when i warm the car up and forget about it, then return in 15mins and go "wtf, why is my car on", the temp is sitting at just under half way), but it should stop raising once it hits that point, i think that's when the thermos kick in.

i guess in any car, if u drive it very hard and for very long it'll the heat will go over what it normally sits at, in those cases, if u can drive around at a slow pace for a while and dont turn the car off as soon as u stop...

ages ago i had that problem too
i was driving to port stephens, around 2.5hours trip
i had 5 people in the car, had aircon on
the temp gauge actually went to nearly H
but after i turned off aircon it slowly droped,
i guess in such hot weather, extra load and aircon make the cooling system in the car less effective.

wow you fit 5 people in an fto.. like a can of sardines or something

also as mxy said if it goes over halfway theres a problem, check all your fluid levels and your radiator hoses then get a mechanic to check it out if everything seems fine with the above.. water pump is supposed to be replaced at 100,000k so if youre higher than that and have not replaced it yet its likely to be the pump.

I had the opposite, when I turn my air-con on, the temperature on the FTO goes down and stays at constant below half way mark.

Like mxysxy and hobbsie said, check your coolant and when was the last time you flash/change it? I change mine every 6mths.

Water pump.

In your case you might have a fan problem, the thermos are not kicking in on the normal circuit but are over ridden when you turn the AC on, auto elec job this one

Well i had problems with the hose that goes into the heater matrix coroded away and coolant was leaking out and causing a air lock in the radiator which made it over heat so i took it to nat rad and the guy by pass the heater for me and he notice that the radiator cap was realsing its preassure at 28 and apparently it is meant to realse at 13 so he put a new cap on it for me and ever since that its over heating on long distance drive so it might be the radiator cap meant to realse at 28
