It's not something that's really done in Australia, they do it over in Japan and the UK because of the snow.

Cars from certain areas in Japan may be more prevalent to these conditions - i.e. Northern Japan (Hokkaido region), snows a lot and there can be rust problems for cars from there.

If you are worried, fish oil spray is commonly used. You can get it from most automotive stores (Repco, SuperCheap Auto, etc) and apply yourself. Alternatively get a smash repairer to do it for you, probably cost you a hundred bucks or so.

I doubt you'd need it however.

Ok cool ..

I had an NRMA inspection before i bought it , and he mentioned that I have should have it done ASAP if I lived near a beach area (which i do ) so he got me a little worried ...

Yeah salt (from seawater) can lead to rust.

Easy solution - if you live near rust prone areas, wash and hose down your car regularly.

If you still want to spray it, can of fish oil spray costs $10. Give it to your mechanic next time he services your car and tell him to hose off the underside and then spray the car if you are worried.
