No indicators - blowing fuse
Yo,
Everytime I use an indicator or hazards, I blow the fuse for them. Obviously something is shorting out but I suck at wiring and electrical stuff (as well as everything else) so I don't really know where to start... is there a common place where sh*t goes wrong here or?
Now everytime I turn an indicator/hazards on, fuse blows straight away. Previously, the indicators just ticked very fast.
Where should I be looking exactly?
Cheers

Blown / earthed out bulb I'd say if they flashed real fast before....
Then have a look up under the drivers footwell from where you ripped out the immobiliser. It will have connected to the flasher relay.

Odd though, all the bulbs worked before. Both front indicators, both side, both rear. Probably a stupid question but what do you mean by earthed out bulb? Not grounded properly? (wiring n00b)Bennoz wrote:Blown / earthed out bulb I'd say if they flashed real fast before....

Cheers, will check relay as well
Edit: Would that be AIT indicator fuse?
Edit again: Waaaaait a second, you reckon I need to find which wires from the immobilizer were bridged into the indicator wiring yes?Supplanter wrote:

Just pop the foil off a ciggie packet and wedge it in the fuse location.

No 1 suspect. The wiring you put back together.
1. Check your wiring
2. Take the bulb out and see if the fuse still blows.

Re: No indicators - blowing fuse
When that happened to me last week, it was because I crushed one of the wires to the rear lights when putting them back in... *facepalm*

Re: No indicators - blowing fuse
Which explains why they were flashing fast.
Pull em all out.. Plug em in one by one. Find which one is either blowing the fuse or making them flash fast and trace the wiring.
Could be piched at the light or under interior trim/dash.

Re: No indicators - blowing fuse
Dont put bigger fuses in. That will just be more likely to damage components/burn out the wire. The fuses are that size for a reason. Do what rockit said.
Question, does the fuse blow when you put the indicators on in both directions or only Left or right?
As an aside, you can definitely pinch taillight wires. Done that before.

Re: No indicators - blowing fuse
Don't know dwayne... I think I get no indicators at all and fuse blows on hazards? Haven't tested it too much, don't have many spare fuses at the moment. Ill just check for a pinched wire and if it isn't that then ill just get my blue slip dude to fix.
I fix cars.
