Argg F#$kn Fires
I hate bloody bushfires!. Had 2 popup quite close to my place today. Can't see smoke yet, but know they are there:
The closest one is not in a good location based on the winds we are currently getting today. Bring on the cool change!
Thereare some bad looking ones up around Sydney and Newcastle. Hope you are all safe!

Holy crap, hope everything is OK mate.
If you need a hand with anything around the property let me know. Wouldn't mind another road trip and an excuse to get time off work
At least if it gets close to your house you're allowed to drive your FTO really fast through all the twisties to get away and not get in trouble
Best getaway car evar!

Last week...
My brother-inlaw lives @ Winmalee (Blue Mountains) and he had to fight the fire from his house.
His local friends lost their house and everything in it. They were on holidays and the teenage daughter was home alone.
The parents told the daughter to leave the house, via phone, when the house got covered in smoke, and flames were approaching the backyard.
The friends neighbours didn't make it out in time and watched their house burn down around them while sitting in the bath, full of water.
Anyhow...Hoping the fires miss you place Dwayne.
The only fire allowed is the annual bonfire.

I know there are about 40 fire units coming from SA to NSW to help you guys out. A mate of mine was part of an operation to mobilise and move units up you're way from here

Re: Argg F#$kn Fires
Still here...... Worst is past for now. No wind and the change came through a couple of hours ago. Hopefully With the cooler temperatures over the next few days, they will be able to get some sort of handle on it. Its in such rugged countryside through I dont think they can get vehicles to it atm.
I hope everyone else made it safely through the day. Phil, thats a worrying story...

Sorry mate, but there are plenty of stories like that at the moment.dstocks wrote:Phil, thats a worrying story...
I guess the moral is...don't take any chances, if you have to go then go.
You and your family are moar important than houses, stuff and even GPvR FTO's (which I'm sure you don't need to be told).
Stay safe.

Re: Argg F#$kn Fires
We actually went up last week and did a heap of fire prepping in case by chance it makes its way to our Hunter location.
As it stands we are fine.
But the season has just begun.

but but.... the bonfire... we need stuff to burn for the bonfire. Suppose the entry fee could be in firewood next year.dstocks wrote: But hey, at this rate there will be nothing left to burn by Christmas
on a serious note though, hope you stay safe. Not a whole lot that I can do from QLD, but thoughts are with you and your family (and anyone else affected by the fires actually).
