Hi Guys,

MB950176 - is this the code for the GPX twin-pot front calipers+hangers?

Does anyone in brisbane have a dead/worthless front caliper for a GPX with it's hanger I could purchase/borrow for a trial fit.

I actually own a 2.0L pajero io, many of the fto parts are a crossover however the twin-spot caliper conversion for an Io uses Airtrek turbo calipers (Airtrek being OS outlanders) but as no turbo's were brought into australia the GPX calipers _appear_ to be the same or at least use the same bolt/hanger/configuration.

Thanks!!!

I'm pretty sure they are the same. I can cross reference that part number on the database when I get home. It'll tell me what other models they were used on. Pretty sure it was also used on the 3rd gen Magnas & some mid 90s Tritons.

hey shadowarrior - yeah good to see you too!

one of my russian mates who runs an io let me know this one - lathe the disk brake down from 286mm to 276mm and run Airtrek brakes, FTO GPX brakes appear to be the same.

looks like the following cars use identical twin pot brakes:

wonder if the mounting frames are the same??

evo 1-3
FTO GPX
mitsu-outlander

Piston Diameter 2 x 43mm
Cast Iron Yes
OE Equivalent MR370775, MR249964, MB950176
Car Model MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER 2.0 4WD (2003/2006)

also - does anyone know what the diameter of the hat is? the twin-pot frame may well hit the hat on the single pot disks

I can get you that measurement while I try to figure out how to get that cross threaded axle nut out :)
Will update over the weekend.

Yep it's a 96 GPX.
Wouldn't mind an extra hand :) Do you want to come over tomorrow? You can have a look at the brakes in person then?

Btw, you have the correct part number.
MB950176 is front left
MB950177 is front right.

I would check with dstocks if he has any spare twin pot calipers off a GPX/GPvR. He won't be online for a week since he is out of town. If he has any with him and if I go down to attend the bonfire at his place in Bateman's Bay in April, I can bring them back for you.

that would be great - so what's with the nut? just crossthreaded? I've got big sockets and bars etc to crack it off

if the calipers look like they will fit I'd be keen for a set for sure!

Yeah the nut keeps spinning there and doesn't want to come out or tighten up, not stuck though.

I have breaker bar and a long pipe and the tools. My 32 size socket for that nut is a multi sided, not an eight side. It still grips though. I am going to try to snap it back on the grove by putting some pressure. Or wind it while pushing from the back/pulling from the front so it might bite into the thread and come out. Do you have a 32 spanner which has bit of an offset? Like this:

Or if you have a 32 spanner straight, that should work too.

My last option out is to drill the nut to crack it. Will go to Bunnings and grab some extra drill bits.

Check the measurements of the calipers when you are here, if they match, we can check with Dwayne (dstocks) if he has any with him.

Cheers mate, I'll drill and snap the nut tomorrow. Bob is bringing an angle grinder as well. All good :)
