I have a noisy/squealing timing belt pully on the engine in the car....and a spare MIVEC engine sitting in the garage.
So, how do I go about getting them off? Given that it is not a simple task to get the other engine to a mechanic for them to do it, how do I get them off myself?
I am going to assume that you need a special tool (as indicated in the manual) but just wondering if there is another way.

but the timing belt if too tight will make a "hum" type noise.oldie wrote:it would be unusual for toothed belts to squeal! more likely to be alternator or air con belts , make sure there correctly adjusted if still noisy take them off and try again before giong to all that work to change t/bs
But i would suggest the A/C and Alt belts too...maybe even the idle pully or the bearings of the pullies...I know some of mine need ot be replaced.
