Can some one pretty pleasae do me a big favour
I was wondering if somone is able to check there radiator cap and tell me the rating off it so i can see if my radiator cap is the wroung rating and causing my car to heat up.

unless the the cap is not holding pressure it shouldn't be the cause of overheating. does your engine have a theromostat? not having one can cause running hot on long or fast runs, are your losig water or does the gauge say it's hot? where does the gauge usually sit? does it move to that position quickly on start up from cold, like within 5 ks?

Just chnage the coolant as a start if you have no ideas....if you are able u can then take of the thermostat at the same time and test it in hot water.
I had been noticing mine would drift over half-way once I got off the freeway. I can't rememebr how long it was since it was chnaged so I decided to do it today.
For anyone who hasn't done it, us the tech. manual as its quite straight forward. Take of the drain bolt in the block which will be tight as as they have used Locktightwhen doing it up...
MAke sure its cold...dont want u buring yourself..
Get some buckets etc read...or if your doing it on the grass just let it drain. I do it in my pit so I used by oil pan.
Take out the drain plug...then take out the radiator cap..Then get a house and put it in the radiator cap hole on low to wash out old coolant...I did this for about 1min.
Then put the drian plug back in...use locktight..I didn't and used grease cos I will drain this again soon cos I want to take off the thermostat. You need this to ensur it doesn't vibrate loose while driving..
Fill it up with new colant...I used some stuff from Repco which is pre-mixed and in 5L bottles.
Fill it up and run the engine for a bit...fill it up more..Then take it for a drive...get it hot...come back. Let it cool down a bit and top it up as necessary and top of the overflow bottle also.
Done.
I took mine for a drive and it did seem to stay much more just under the 90 degree (midway point) so I assume this was the issue. Time will tell.
If you don't use locktight...don't forget to check the drian bolt on a regular basis...best to use it.

Make sure your overflow isnt blocked. Mine was at one stage and it created a vacuum in one of the main pipes (which reduced the flow of water). Mine didnt actually overheat, but then I wasnt driving for more than 15 minutes at the time.

funny enough I had also been finding my temp guage was going about 90...I changed the coolant but today it went spastic and overheated...blew the radiator cap off and lots of coolant.
Anyway I got some more water and filled it up...checked everything out and drove slow back some.
Took of the thermostat and tested it in boiling water...farked....will get a new one tomorrow and everything should be sweet.
so do what he says...should be the goods..cos your t/stat is probably not opeing enough to allow for coolling all the time...or at all like what happened to me 2day!

ok replaced thermostat and all working sweet. wont take you too long and will cost you about 30 for the stat, another 30-40 for coolant depending on what you buy..
go for it it will fix your problem.
After testing my old one, it only opened about half of what it should...I tested it a few times and once it didn't open at all!
pretty easy job with a rachet and a 12mm socket I think...will take u about 10min to get it off...
