The way i see it is, its crap Mistubishi. A lot of their cars do it. Notice how a lot for old crap cars dont have lifter problems, while carefully looked after Mitsubishis always have the problem??DanXbix wrote:Ok saw a silver one today all good.
One of the mechanics said to me it looks like a couple of hydrylic lifters are not getting any oil through them. Is it possible that could of happened
by just getting the oil drained? They are not to sure but are saying it will be six week before they can get any? Or is there a place you guys or gals know of?
thanks again
Its just the way Mitsubishi build their engines, its a problem which even newer Mitsubishis have. Live with it.

The FTO is the same as any other nineties vintage car..........they all have minor problems after a few years on the road.
It is around 10 years old, don't always believe the odometer either.

I used to own a 93 Liberty RS Turbo and the EJ20T in that sounded like a machine gun before I chucked some lifter free in it to hide the noise from the stuffed hydraulic lifters 5 minutes before I traded it in.
Nissan SR20's with a few k's on them also have top end problems after a while. You can even buy aftermarket conversion kits to fix up the problems. (ie SSS pulsars, 180SX etc etc)
Anyways Dan, any news on the arrival of your parts? are they going to be here this side of Christmas?
Cheers
Chris

Hi guys Got my car back and all is fixed. engine is so quite now!!
Happy again. Apparently under the lifters there 6 or more spring things (sorry don't know the name) anyway on each one theres 2 plastic caps that sit on top and when they fixed the first time and put back together one of them fell off into the sump (luckly) which some how was making the noise. Anyways all fixed, Now to save for suspension
Thanks all

Thanks all

But we are focusing on lifter noise here. Most FTO's have this problem, and you cant blame it being an Old car, as most cars older than the FTO dont suffer lifter noise. Most of the Mitsu range suffer from Lifter noise, EVO and GTO included. Even the family cars eg Magnas suffer from it.Breza wrote:Don't mean to hijack your thread Dan but.................The way i see it is, its crap Mistubishi. A lot of their cars do it.
