Oil leak from dipstick holder

Post by fto1996 »

Hi all just wondering if anyone had problems with an oil leak from the dipstick holder ? Was thinking it was one of my seals to the cam box but on a closer look it appears to becoming from the hole near the top of the dip stick holder. Any ideas on what may be causing this or a cure for it ? Someone told me i may need a compression test ? Thanks. Julia.

if its not pushed in enough it will leak. I left it a bit out once and oil went everywhere..check that first, clean the area and see what happens..

If the dipstick is being blown up enough to leak you have problems with crancase pressure. Start by checking breathers and PCV valve.
If you run the engine with the oil filler cap off is it smoking heavily, could be the rings have excessive blowby = big $ :(

oil leak from dipstick holder

Post by fto1996 »

Hi and thanks for the replys. My dipstick is pushed down completely and does not appear to be getting pushed out. The dipstick holder has a small hole towards the top of it and it looks like it is slowly trickling out of there and running down to bottom of dipstick and then dripping from beneath engine. Will get some valve (pc or pv i think) checked tomorrow for any blockages. Car does not seem to be blowing any smoke. What a pain. Do you think i should take car to Unique Autos to get checked out, since i hear many people seem to use those guys ? Julia.

Just had a lok at mine to see what hole you were refering to,
replace the 2 O rings on the dipstick handle, this should stop the leak :D

Did you notice oil all the way up your dipstick when this is happening? I think I may have the same but the dipstick is fairly clean :?

Don't bother with Mitsu just go to any bearing suppliers, they usually have a good range :D
