it's Mobil 1 supersyn 5w30. I was running 5w50 syn before, so be interesting to see what the drop in viscosity does.
No noises at startup yet, but that's not really the indicator, as before it was after the filter had a few k's on it that they showed up.
I had formed the opinion that Valvoline filters weren't much good, as when they were replaced it was about 3 days before I had cold start noises again...tried this a few times.
Just a thought, are all the older/cheaper type of paper filters compatible with syn. oil?
Anyways, I can't get into it too much just yet, as the FTO is having some work done on it. Timing belt change and a problem with it not idling.
I ran it after the oil change and no noises yet, even with the dry filter, which you'd expect.
I'll just have to wait and see. There's not many k's on the engine, so I'm not sure what's been going on.
