Help Needed Auto Transmission

Post by jmaynard »

hey guys,

Had my FTO for a few months now. However, the other day when I was driving it would just drop back gears erraticaly say from 4 to 3rd with no reason. I left the car for a while a few hours. I got back in and it seemed to function normally until the first few km.

Then the transmission jumped straight into 3rd gear and the N light flash whilst driving.

it doesnt matter if i'm driving in sports mode it will let me change into third then the N light just flashes

On close inspection there seems to be a transmision fluid on top of the transmission underneath the air filter box.

I'm going to take the car to mitsubishi to check over but does any one have any ideas?

When it drops into 3rd all the time, its going into 'limp' mode... which means there's a problem.

Hello Again,

I took the car to Newcastle Mitsubishi who think its the tranmission fluid causing the car to do this???

I'm not so sure as I have driven a couple of 1000 K's and only now it seems to play up.

Does anyone on here think it could be the fluid?

They will charge $200 to drain

Any help would be great or maybe some recomendations on where to take it

U wont get all fluid on the first chnage..will need ot for it 3 times...but wont take long.

The fluid from Mitsi is not exp. either.

Do it urself and save some bucks.

First thing to look at would be the sensors. This is a very common problems with FTOs.
You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
