I'm looking to do a manual conversion because I'm sick of auto.. only problem is I don't know what I need other then the gearbox and clutch LOL . I would read Max's topics but for some reason I cannot load anything he has posted. So if some of the more techncal people wouldn't mind helping with a list of what I would need to buy that would help a lot.
Thanks
Rob
Here is some infor for starters (from Redline).....
Drive shafts (possibly)
Gearbox
Gearhifter, boot & gearknob
gearshift cables
Pedal box
clutch master cylinder and lines
flywheel
clutch & pressure plate
tachometer
Possibly a new Gearbox mount
And of course all necessary fluids....I used redline gbox oil.
Oh also the reverse light plug may have to be changed up a bit to fit back so your reverse lights come on and also the wire that detects the auto in park for the car to start, any half decent mechanic/electrician can sort this out without any issue.. Apart from my custom gearbox mount since I didnt have time to order a new one, my whole conversion took less than two days total.
Clutch pedal assembly
Brake pedal assembly
gear selector
selector cables
gaitor
gear knob
Gearbox
gearbox mount
master cylinder and pipes inc.slave cylinder and all brackets
Flywheel, clutch, pressure plate etc.
Rev counter
All nuts, bolts. clips etc
Plug that goes onto the reverse sensor with a bit of loom.
You don't need the driveshafts unless you have a 5 speed tiptronic box but you do need the green CV cups that go into the manual gearbox as there are 4 different types and your tip ones might not fit. When the manual box is fitted, get the tiptronic green cups back to your gearbox supplier to put back on the original driveshafts. If you cant do that, then you will need the original manual box driveshafts.
my budget isnt quite a new FTO lol, plus I have grown attachted to mine
I am yet to work out what my budget is, I guess its what ever the bank will give me
