Okay just got off the phone with my tuner. More problems.
Really pushing me this time. Microtec have sent the wrong thing AGAIN!
Aparently Microtec think my car (95 Gpx with 96 engine) should have 3 coils with external igniters.
Tuner says that my car actually has INTERNAL ignitors. And as such requires a different harness. Something about its 4 pin and its ment to be 7 pin?
Can anyone shed some light on this? I really didnt think that the 6a12 Mivec engines didnt change during production... what the?

actually can't remember if it has an external ignition setup or not. ...so it must be internal. I have a set of coils in my room at home, i dont think it has external control pins/socket.kid_dynamite wrote:Unless Ben or anyone else says otherwise, I agree with you - three ignition coils, which control the spark 1/4, 2/5 and 3/6.

KJ have a look at the coil pack plug, not the lead plug, but the harness plug & see how many pins there are... that should answer our question here.
And Sam, it didnt change during production... they're all the same.

well the tuner has told me first of all they got the wrong microtec because my engine didnt have a distributer? im like well its a GPX 96 engine... and they said there must of been two types.. so that got sent away, and now this new one has the wrong harness.. ment for a 7 pin external igniter not 4 pin internal. Are they bullshitting me or what? The mechanic keeps putting the blame on microtec. He's not charging me any extra but i feel like he's trying to delay me or something. And i need the car for this weekend. He said the new harney should arrive tomorow and then he can finish it off and wire it up. then it still has to be tuned. god dammit!!!

Had a look....3 pins on the coil packs themselves.
From the engine manual its wired direct into the ECU....no igniter pack like I have on my r33.
The three pins are
+Ve rail
Driver for the switch **this is doing the switching fomr the ECU.
Gnd
Its a common rail cant see anythng complicated about this one. Until it has something to do with the harness on the ecu...but...I doubt it.
