Fixing water damage in a Nokia N80

Post by Cbrown1986 »

Hi,

Basically, Nokia had my phone for 6 weeks and was supposed to be fixing it under warranty.(this is the 2nd time)

I picked my phone up today but they didn't fix it because there was water damage to the circuit board. Aparently it is uneconomical for Nokia to fix it.

Does anyone know anywhere in Brisbane that will fix it? Even if a member on here works for someone, I can post it..

Cheers,

Chris

Sorry to say this man but if there is water damage to the circuit it will probly be cheaper to buy a new phone and less hassel but some times u can get lucky i put my motrolla through the wash one day by accident it still worked but i turned it off took the covers of and let it to dry out and turned it back on thats the only thing i did and its still fine but yeah thats my advise because most electronic shops wont touch the phones unlease there under warrenty and if they are they just send them to nokia

The only thing you could have done was to dip it in rubbing alcohol directly after dropping it in the water. The alcohol forces the water out, and dries much faster than water.

But if its been away to Nokia and THEY say its stuffed, Id say you're out of luck. :|

The thing is, I dont remember it even going near water.

It started off not bad at all, then it got worse and worse. Last time it happened they reinstalled the software and all was well and good. Then it happened again...Now they say it's water damage between the layers in the circuit board..
