OK I have an FTO which snaps into what seems to be called "LIMP MODE" I have looked over this forum and it appears that its a relatively common problem yet there seems to be hundreds of possible reasons for this or in some instances people dont seem to provide final information on what was the actualy cause and how it was rectified.
I live in Newcaste NSW and would like to have my car fixed sooner rather than later as I have already been screwed around enough.
If any one has any ideas or even better can share in detail how they fixed this problem that would be highly appreciated or if you could reccomend a mechanic who is familar with this issue who either lives around the Newcastle region or a mechanic who would be happy to offer some help/suggestions over the phone that would be great to.
I really like this car but this Limpp Mode thing is really starting to pee me off given that i have been without the car for close to 3 months now.

hey i recently got my box rebuilt at manual transmission factory in broadmedow top guys .. done a great job on my box and was really cheap. they might be able to help u out if its problems with your gearbox
or you could take your car to hunter & thomas automotive. who are my normal mechanics.. theyr a bit expensive.. but they know what they are doing.. have worked on a fair few fto's and are very familiar with the car.

As above check the error codes but also look at the flashing N when in limp mode. If its flashing at 2Hz then it is overheating. This will break down your ATF and kill your box eventually. Possible causes are blocked radiator pipes or rusted fins.
If its flashing at 1Hz then it is usually a sensor, most common being input or output speed sensors. This will be stored as a code, IIRC overhating isn't stored as a code.
If you get the code and check the manual you will find each code can correspond to more than one thing. This is because you usually get more than one code so you look for the common factor.
