Interior mirror lights

Post by DaveO »

G'day all
I thought i had better ask this before i go in and compleatly break it.
How do i get into the interior mirr to change the globes?
I've had a look behind the mirror and can see too slots, one behind each light.
Do I just push a screw driver into these slots or do I do something else?

Hey hows it goin? I had the same problem, i changed my interior lights to blue..hehe..i used a flat screw driver, but just be careful, because when i changed the interior lights, i accidently caused a short circuit & blew a fuse, which i changed the fuse in the fuse box in the engine, so be careful. Here's 2 links if any more answers u need:

G'day BJ
Thanks for those links.
Did you stick the screwdriver into the slots in the back or just under the clear lens?

Just under the clear lens.

And I hope you don't have fat fingers...

G'day BJ
Just finnished changing the mirror lights.
I thought I might share with everyone what to do and what not to do while it's still fresh in my head.
First of all, don't stick any thing in to the slots at the back of the mirror, you'll only damage the reflector.
Next while sitting in the chair use a small flat bladed screw driver, only work on the side of the lens closest to you and gently pry one end of the lense then the other end. Remember only the side of the lens closest to you as the other side has 2 flat tabs not intended to be sprung and the correct side has 2 springy tabs.
I noticed that the globes that were in the mirror were too long (44mm) and I had to brake them to get them out. I replaced them with 41mm long globes.
