Dodgy Wiper Question

Post by payaya »

Hey all!

You know how new cars always have great window wiper performance?? I mean nice wipes, and quiet???

I change my wiper blades and it leaves parts on the windscreen not wiped and its bloody noisy!!!

How the hell do you regain the nice wipe???

Thanks

The arm that sits against the window is designed to fit snugly, but with time the bits will stiffen up/move. You should have a look at the arms and either free up the joints and/or position them to get better connection with the screen. This does however involve checking them around the whole arc of operation as at different positions, the wiper components need to be positioned differently in order to get the best connection with the screen. Bit of oil (or other lubricant) on each of the joints to free them up a little will probably help. Just make sure you dont overdo it as it may cause oil on the windscreen, which wouldnt be really great.

Failing this, you actually can buy ney arms that will fit from pretty much any auto shop. They actually dont cost much more than the blades by themselves. Just make sure you get ones that are the right size!

Good Luck
