Post by Joey1987 »

Hey there

just joind the site the other day.

heven't had much of a chance to have a look arround yet. hopefully i will learn stuff about my car. just don't want to be one of them chicks who has a nice car but knows jack sh*t bout it! lol

i have a 1996 GPX silver/grey FTO i love her so much. just want to get some ideas on how to make it stand out a bit more. i would love to paint her but it's just a tad expensive (like $5000 ive been quoted) thinking i might just concerntrate on paying it off first!

mm a common bodykit like VS isnt too expensive, wouldnt even cost $1000 imo

yea silver is not so bad but i think it's the most common for a fto, well i just seem to see silver ones a lot more than any other colour, but anyway yea a paintjob is a bit too expensive

where's the best place to get them from? i live in Brisbane.

i'm just new to the whole car scene so want to know the best places to get stuff from. i have been to the Pannel House before (ova the south side) but they are really jsut a wreckers.

if i could get one for under $1000 TOTAL i will. but do i have to get it painted as well on top of that price?

the only thing with VS bodykits is that almost every single one i have seen has their front kit stuffed up. its too low and they break off or dent or something, iv alwasy seen the front kit stuffed. altho it may be cheaper i wudnt go for it. 1stly alota pple have it, &2ndly the breaking problem. thats just my suggestion though. Yep, you people in the Brisbane area have the best at your doorstep in DMD.

Not a fan of Veilside myself. Much prefer the Bozz, D Cuatro or Factory T front and maybe D Cuatro side skirts. Look around and find out the one that you like best. The link below pretty much covers all the options. Having said that, some are not available within Australia.

    Have fun!

They're not too expensive but theyre not cheap either..
Good luck... Theres a heap of things you can do to an FTO. And this site is probably the best place to find out about them.

      ROFLMFAO @ THE EXCEL!!!!

ahbahahah the funny thing was i've actually seen a white excel like that in real, and he had gauges and a exaust n everything, and when my car got rear ended and i was driving around in the little manual excel, i "raced" this white auto excel with the exact same body kit just for a laugh (while we were both stepping on it, people driving normally were driving faster than us, goddam excels r such a joke), and his car had no engine mods at all, just the body kit n a exhaust n gauges all over his dash =P

I saw an excel like that with a massive turbo (IIRC) at a carshow once.

Some young kid there (think it was the owner) looked proud as punch of his little baby. Each to their own and all... but I couldn't help but laugh a little.

hahaha check the bad photoshop on the numberplate... you can still read it

As for affording the modifications... I didn't. They were already done when I bought the car, thank god. :D However in order of preference I would do the following:

Get decent stereo... including sub if you're so inclined or the type of music you listen to demands it.
Remove rear wing (if you don't like wings).
Remove FTO branding in arse of boot.
      Remove key hole on boot.
Tint windows, if not already tinted.
      Get Body Kit.
      Get mags.
Lower car to acceptable height (dependant on your lifestyle/driveway!)

I haven't done anything to the engine, nor had any of the previous owners... I think I've decided against doing so... don't really need a race car. Fuel economy rules with the amount of milage I do... frankly I don't want to piss away my wages on petrol when there are far more enjoyable things to do with it.

      wttc

you can personalise your car by: lowering it thats cheap enough.

      sound system
      mags
wider tyres: find out whats suitable
      exhaust system

these are little extras that make your car stand out.

I already have a sound system.so that's done. but i do have a question about it.

How do you get ya boot to stop ratteling? i cant hear it from the inside of my car but when i'm outa the car with the stez on it definatly rattles. it's so anoying.

I would like to lower my car, but, im thinking that down the track i would like to get a body kit so if i lower it then does it make it harder to get a body kit/drive with one on becuase it will be low?

I never thought about getting wider tyers, i have looked at wheels but never thought about getting wider ones. But that's another one of those expensive down the track things.

With a exhaust system, i have heard a few FTO's with those cannon thingys and they just sound like crap. duno if it just depends on how they are installed etc and what type of FTO they are. The couple that i have heard may have been 4pots and that's why they sound the way the do. I dunno?

I have thought about getting a exhust but i like the way the have the two tips at the back anyway. so it doesn't really bother me. i think i would rather spend my money on a body kit!
