please HELP! Suspension and Knocking sound issues..(Melbourne)
Hi guys,
I'm dring a 1995 GR. My car seems to be in an age where it keeps developing old age problems.
i am having a problem... recently i hear this noise (knocking sound: tak tak) Seems like metal knocking onto each other, or Squeeky sound.... Coming from the driver side, under our legs., Its so scary whenever i feel it. Seems like something below the car is loose or somethng. Really worried.
The Knocking sound will arise whenever there are uneven roads (which is quite frequent) or humps... hate SHOPPING centers!
Lee is abit busy at the moment. I had left my car at LEE's place for abt 10 days, After checking, taken out parts to investigate and tighten them, He said that it will be very Time consuming to figure out the problem. Therefore the problem is still there.
The issue now is the cost now i assume. So i had taken the car back. Is there anyone out here who know the main problem? I read about problems regarding worn bush and droplinks. I am not sure if they are the culprits.
I'm staying in Melbourne, Victoria, anyone can help me with this? Who can i go to? Will it cost a lot to fix it?
please Assist!

take it to a suspension place,
why is it Time Consuming to figure out the problem?
Take it to Pedders for diagnostic, one of those 14 points check,
But dont get it fixed by them, expensive and they seem to identify issues that dont exist or too early to get it fixed.
Good people for the test though
As you said, first to check is droplinks and bushes. Shocker might had enough as well.

Strut Tops
Sounds like strut tops to me. Are the knocking noises deep and metal on metal?. Mitsubishis are renowned for weak strut tops. Eventually the bearings in them collapse. These cost approx $70 a side if thats the problem (but that does not include labour). I would have to agree with mxysxy - take it to Pedders for a check. Dont get them to fix though.
Good Luck

Thanks guys for your Prompt replies, i will take down to Pedders for a check then. Jus pop buy its website, seems to have this $14 - "28 Point Suspension Safety Check"
Wondering if they are open during this Long weekend.
Another question, lets say, if there are some parts of the suspension that is "really" damaged (touch wood). Will Pedders force us to get the car repaired immediatly at their shop?
I had a bad encounter. The reason is because, few mths ago, i had a nail in one of my bridgestone tyres., i took it to a Reputated tyre repair shop "Beu.....repair" They told me that this tyre previously had another area sealed so they cant perform another one, as its not safe and told me that i cant drive the car away and that i MUST change it or they will report to whatever... I wanted to take it somewhere else, as i know there are cheaper second hand tyres available also. But in the end, i had no choice but to change it. I just feel that the Bridgestone tyre is very easy to repair, didnt know why the shop made a fuss out of it. It still has 80% tread LEFT! Oh the more i say the more i feel cheated and angry... Still have that tyre though...
Sorry for being so Long-winded... back to the question, WILL Pedders force us to get the car repaired immediatly at their shop? IF something is really wrong? Any experience? Cus my main purpose is to get the car checked thats it.
Cheers!
