IT Guys: Payment Gateway

Post by mxysxy »

I have a florist client with website and payment gateway organised through St Georges Bank.
Site is designed with asp pages, and the gateway is actually an API.
Its kinda like a .dll but needs to be registered to the server that the website is getting hosted.

Hosting company has recently removed the site to another server, and the payment gateway is now broken, due to the reason API is not registered/awailable in the new server.

Helpdesk have no idea what I am talking about, I kinda got stuck with this issue. Hosting company is not helpfull at all and we are planning to change it. However, most of the other hosting companies that I have asked this question around registering API also have no idea,
I am going through in circules,

How can I fix this?

I am also open to idea around using a different payment gateway, no paypal though, need instant transactions.
Has to be in Windows platform, dont understand Java/linux

Any idea?

Many thanks

Is probably an activeX control of some description.Unfortunately, these usually need to be registered on the server and most hosting companies dont really like supporting this kind of thing without charging. You may be able to find a payment gateway that does not require registration, but I would be approaching a few hosting companies and asking them which payment gateways they support. If they dont know what you are talking about, then they are useless and you should try somewhere else. This sort of functionality is quite common and it should not be really hard to find someone that can help you.

If you need any more help, let me know and if I get time ill look into it a bit for you. Will eventually need to do this for my CMS anyway (although ive been avoiding it - security is always a bit of an issue).
