I took my car to workshop today, and they check the car said this car is
self-adjusted by the oil pressure, so that someone suggest me to adjust
the tappets/lifters can not be done?
the man suggest me to do 3things, 1, change the oil and filter.
2. clean engine, something on the bottom of the engine?
3. change lifter....
what can I do now?
Where did you take it to? Surely Unique Autosports wouldn't have said that (unless your car is a GR, not a GPX)
Whichever mechanic said that obviously doesn't know about FTO's & I would not be taking my car to them... just give UAS a call, they will be abel to give you a price over the phone for adjusting the tappets..
Can you post a pic of your engine please. If they are saying the tappets cannot be adjusted, then either the mechanic that looked at doesn't know what he's doing or you have a Non Mivec GR....
1500 - 2000 just to adjust tappets? Thats talking themselves out of business Where abouts do you live Ralph? You might be in my mobile mechanics area....
Ben's right, $1500-2000 is way too much just for adjusting tappets... they would have just lost my business...
Not sure exactly how much it should cost though... but I have been quoted around $1500 to fix cam tower seals, tappets, water pump, timing belt & a couple of other things...
not to sure where is the number on the engine, and found this number on a metal plate on the car (rear of the engine),but if the engine been changed, this number is useless...

here is the pic of engine, not mine, I found from the carsales.com.au, but
looks the same , the pic is under the title of "1995 MITSUBISHI FTO GPX"
lol its MIVEC no decoder needed, thats Dstocks showing off his cool stuff..
2000 would have been to fullly replace them, and its crap boring job so no suprise they just quote high. Even if its a GPX you still can have broken plastic heads which means you cant adjust them anyway...
