removing cig lighter socket

Post by BorepYano »

hey as a couple of u guys might know i'm trying to make fibreglass copies of the centre concole, and i'm stuck on how to actually remove the lighter socket from the main bit (if u look at it closely, the lighter socket seems to be on a panel of its own, and i cant get this panel off)

so far i've managed to remove all the electric bits of it, only have the metal casing and the actual panel to go.

can anyone help? i had a quick look for diys and on ftooc but didnt find anythign that can help

right at the back of the cig lighter there is a metal screw looking thing. Just unscrew it and it will come off. The screw should be located near where the power cables connect.

1. pull the stereo surround out and disconnect the wiring.

2. then around the tiny clear plastic ring that sits around the cig lighter there should be a spot to fit a screwdriver underneath and pop it out from the metal section.

3. just bang the metal section out.

i think this is how i did it but i am not sure coz it has been ages since i did it, but give it a try anyway

if you dont need to unatach the cig lighter from the matel piece then just knock the whole piece out as one.

i think there might be a screw either inside or at the bottom on the outside that will split the sig lighter socket in half and then it will come out
