More guages!!!

Post by FtoSam »

Righto... was unpacking some boxes from storage and found a couple of guages i was going use on the A Pillar...

Never got round to installing them so thought i'd install them on the dash above the glovebox...

Wasnt enough room behind there, so the next option was the space where my ashtray used to be where i now have the CF surround...

Was so nervous cutting the CF with the hole saw... knowing how hard they are to get not to mention cost...

So measured,cut and installed...

end result...

You got (from top left).. All are Smoke Series... (Go black when car is off)
- Oil Pressure (Yet to be connected)
- Volt Guage
- Saber Smoke Boost Guage
- Water Temp (Yet to be connected)
- Oil Temp (Yet to be connected)

Will hook up the connections next weekend... But im happy with the look... It looked really plain before...

(and yes i know theres already a water guage on the dash...)

They do look at home there.. Good one.... :D

The only thing that looks a little out of place is the white dials for the speedo ... Are you going to keep them or change em ???/

I have the smoked gauges in the Clock/Volt spot too ... And would really love to have the same thing where the speedo is... Would look hot IMO ...

Yeah, I have wanted to do it as a custom dash for as long as I can remember ... It would be sooooo cool to have smoked gauges as the speedo + revs...

Was contemplating it, but i figured not many people would have the CF surround, and those that do, would not be too willing to take to it with a hole saw...

installing gauges are easy just check out a turbo site and check the DIY section and i'm sure you will find a guide to installing oil temp/ water temps
thought gauges on a NA car are almost pointless lol

guages on an N/a are just as vital... only difference is no boost guage...

Tacho, oil temp, oil pressure, etc are all just as vital...

Tacho/shift light = yes

Oil temp = No (the oil temp on a turbo engine is a lot higher as the turbo heats it greatly, so is important to gauge this but on a N/a oil is not heating up anyway near this so unless you have a massivly high powered n/a its really not necessary)

Oil pressure = Maybe (again not really necesary but if all you do is thrash your engine then it is a good safety measure).

All other gauges = No

I like the console ones as for smoke dash etc I put in white faced gauges to go with dash oil tem/ pressure and volts then replaced the backlight with blue bulbs to match the indiglo dash looks pretty mint, but smoke speedo would be awesome

the stock temp guage is actually the water temp not the oil temp. ;)
