Need some help with Greddy Emanage Blue ECU

Post by koolio1234 »

Was looking around for one of these nifty little piggyback units and came across this on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/GReddy-E-Manage- ... 286.c0.m14

Can you guys have a look at it and let me know if this will go into my FTO because the seller says it wont go into a Mitsubishi in his description. This is unusual because i know some of you guys have used this ecu in your fto's and its been talked about before on here. Is there a special emanage blue for the fto? or is this guy bullshitting?

Had a look at his item description and it states Compatible Engines: Mitsubishi, Honda, Toyota, Nissan.

Maybe ask the seller what he/she had it in or if they know if it is compatible.

a piggyback can suit almost any car.

this has all the cables etc, just need to be spliced into your ecu. for 400 its an OK price with all the bits.

thanks for the replys all. I'll do a bit more research, I'll email the seller and confirm what they mean. This should give me a good gain atw paired with some aftermarket extractors.

Yeah thats not a bad price. From memory, Bigpitty used one of these with the universal harness & it worked ok.

Kj, personnally i would save another couple of hundred hundred ( ) and go for the emanage ultimate 10kws + depending of what else you have done. It has far better tuning ability than the blue.

What price?

I doubt that you will get that gain from the blue

Thats crap, there is absolutely no advantage in using an ultimate over a blue in an FTO. All the Ultimates extra features are for turbo use.

Emanage blue can do ignition and fueling too provided you get the extra harnesses that this one does come with. I think the only thing is the blue can't subtract on fueling but can do plus/subtract on ignition. I've looked it up a bit before and it seems it should be able to do fuel minus too but my garage keeps insisting it doesn't.

The ultimate is better because it has more tuning points, hence more adjustability but the FTO won't need that kind of accuracy unless you've done something serious in your engine bay.

Now the ultimate is kind of worth it over the blue because in addition to being more accurate, the ultimate can run two maps with a simple switch to switch between the two maps. It will remove the japanese 180km/h speed limit AND you can also raise your rev cut, so if you're still making power at cutout, you can raise the revcut a couple of hundred rpms (don't get too greedy on stock internals though!) or you can do it anyways to prevent brushing revcut if you like revving real high.

After saying that though, i would still happily use a blue, even in my V35 (which has a much fussier ecu and engine than 6a12).

Hmm... what kind of alternatives can you guys suggest to the emanage blue system? Something better or more suited to the FTO maybe? Or is the emanage blue the best way to go for a value for money power gain?

The FTO is no different from most other cars. Only specialist feature it has is Mivec & most piggybacks these days will cope with that. All a piggyback does is change the voltages going into the ECU & 'fools' it into adding more or less fuel etc.

This is the list of different piggyback ECU types I've heard of being used in an FTO:
Perfect Power SMT6 or SMT7
Unichip Type A
Emanage Blue and Ultimate
Haltech Interceptor & Mini Interceptor

Then there's the 'bling' controllers like Apexi SAFCs etc
