And another.....

Post by shaneg »

Hi, just bought myself an fto...
A '94 GR, 160,000km, 17" Work alloys, body has a wee bit of wear and tear, paint chips etc, and a crack in the front bumper as previous owner must be a muppet and drove it into something.. but not too bad.
I wasnt loking to own an fto, but needed a car for work, and it was gonna be a subaru leagacy wagon, as they are cheap here, between 1200 and 4500 for a 92-96 model, but i dont like being like everyone else, 1 in 4 people have a subaru here... but i t has grown on me, and is quite a nippy wee thing, i usually get around on motorbikes, pocket rocket 250cc rgv, nsr etc.. once had a race spec bike in full carbon fibre, that i used to ride on the road...crazy... 120km in first gear... but i managed to get the seller to 3000, it was 5000 then 4000 but he was moving overseas, and i wasnt fussed if i got it or not, and he had to say ok.... so here it is...
Was thinking of getting a veilside kit, as i know of a place selling a full kit for $460.. brand new
posting a couple of questions in fto help...

a small bit of paint missing on front right of bumper...

HAHAHA... yes i am a kiwi, so that would make it even cheaper if it was aussie dollars 3000nz would only be 2400??...
in auckland i could probably get a 97 gpx for 8000nz
im in queenstown, and its very seasonal and at least 3 hours from any bigish city, so people find it hard to sell cars at a good price, and when they gotta go they gotta go...

touristy?? you are in the gold coast... cant get much more touristy than that!!!!

but yeah, lots of them, but you get used to it, its grown a lot in 8 years, ive only been here since july, born in dunedin, but lived in akl for the last 5 years...

must suck with all the regs and rules in oz... you can pretty much get away with murder in nz, waiting for a friend to have some spare time so i can take the cat converter out..

p.s how would i tell if they suspension has been modded?
as my rides pretty hard, not as bad as other cars ive been in, bit i havent been in a standard fto to compare, but i definatley feel the bumps, hard..

ive got 215's too, and they rub on the inside wall when in full lock, muppets. anyway to fix this??[/quote]

WTTC, great buy and I'm jealose how easy you'll have it for modifying over there. ;)

Only taking this from the picks mate, but it looks lowered. I'd be jacking the car up to see what suspension it has, might be lucky and have some badges or stickers on the bits.

With the wheels rubbing you could go spacers. I've got 215's and had some rubbing when the tyres were new. With them worn down a little I don't get any anymore. I think it has a fair bit to do with the amount of camber you running as well as the construction of the tyre's sidewall.
